Team

TONY STOVALL (CEO)

Known for having the “Gift of Gab” it is this gift that had a young Tony named the top salesman at Hot Sams Quality Clothes in the late 70’s and today referred by some as a legend in the city of Detroit. Tony is from the East side of Detroit and a graduate of SouthEastern High School  where he was voted “best dressed”. After high school he aspired to become an electrical engineer and attended the Detroit Institute of Technology. Tony started working at Hot Sams in 1974, and found his natural gifts and talents being utilized and worked his way from top salesman to buyer and in 1994 to owner of Hot Sams.

Tony is perhaps considered the voice and face of Hot Sams and represents Hot sams wherever he goes.  He holds many titles within the community and was most recently the former President of The Detroit Black Chamber of Commerce and involved with The Detroit Entertainment Commission. Tony is a family man, married for 40 years with 3 daughters and 1 grand daughter. An active member of his church,  The Empowerment Church and his favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13 ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

CLIFF G. GREEN (CFO)

Cliff is the “money man” . His last name isn’t Green for nothing!  Seldom seen away from the cashwrap ringing up customers. This comes as no surprise with his extensive business background. After graduating from Northeastern High School where he took up a trade in tailor,  Cliff went on to study business with a minor in Human Resources from The University of Detroit. He has worked in retail since 1967 starting out in the 10th grade then moving corporate with JL Hudson in 1974 where he worked his way up the ranks from being a buyer to a manager then to a personnel director.

Cliff brought his skills over to Hot Sams in 1981 and the rest is history. Cliff is not all business as he is also a sports enthusiast and has played a wide range of sports from baseball to tennis. He enjoys engaging in sports talk with clients while fitting them at the tailoring station. Cliff has been married for 27 years, has 8 children and 7 grand children.

LAUREN STOVALL (MARKETING DIRECTOR)

The daughter of Tony Stovall, Lauren is the marketing director who is behind the social media, the store brand , and overall community engagement. Lauren studied marketing at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University and returned home in 2009 and started putting her acquired skills to use in the family business. Her overarching objective is to combine old tradition and new tradition within Hot Sams by acknowledging the past with an appreciation for the present to sustain in the future.

Today

Tony and Cliff have dressed me for so long I’ve lost track of time. My wife will go to the store and tell them what she’d like to see me wear and they ALWAYS pick out the PERFECT outfit. The service is superior and professional. They operate a first class business. I don’t know what I’d do without them. May God continue to smile on and bless The New Hot Sams
